A girl passenger of a bus was attempted to rape by bus driver on Monday night at Meghna new town area under Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj. Police, however, detained the bus driver Shamim and seized the bus. According to the locals and police sources, the girl passenger rode in the bus from Gulistan in Dhaka and was going to Gajaria of Munshiganj. The girl is an operator of Dutch Bangla Packaging Factory in Munshiganj.
All the passengers except the girl got down at Mograpara in Sonargaon area. Then the bus driver allured her to reach her at Gajaria. When the bus reached Meghna new town area, the driver gave driving liability to the bus helper and he took the girl to back seat of the bus and attempted to rape.
Hearing screaming of the girl, the locals chased the bus and caught driver and the bus while the helper managed to escape from the spot. Later, police rushed to the spot and the locals handed bus driver Shamim to police. OC of Sonargaon police station Moniruzzaman said that the victim filed a case in this connection.
