Engr. Md. Atiqur Rahman has taken the charge of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jamuna Bank Limited on Sunday.
He earlier served as chairman of the Board of Directors of Jamuna Bank Limited from April 27, 2003 to April 26, 2004, said a press release.
Engr. Md. Atiqur Rahman was born in 1946 in a respectable Muslim family of Cumilla. He obtained B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka and is a fellow member of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
He made his mark in business and industry. He is the managing director of The Civil Engineers Ltd, one of the pioneer & leading construction companies in Bangladesh. In industrial sector, he was actively associated with setting up of a number of industrial concerns in garments sector.
He is the Chairman of country's renowned industrial conglomerate named "Standard Group". He was also a sponsor shareholder director of Standard Insurance Ltd.
For his contribution in trade, commerce and industry he was declared CIP by the government for the last couple of years.
