Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said the government would not allow misuse of Digital Security Act (DSA) and would do whatever is needed to ensure this. “I would like to say clearly that the Digital Security Act has not been formulated to impede freedom of speech, opinion or freedom of press. It has been formulated only to tackle cyber crimes,” he said while talking to newsmen after coming out of his meeting with a delegation of European Union (EU) at his Gulshan residence on Sunday afternoon, reports BSS.

The 11-member delegation headed by EU Ambassador in Bangladesh Rensje Teerink and the US and Canadian envoys here in the country were also present on the occasion. “The foreign envoys have expressed little concern about Digital Security Act and they had mainly come here to apprise me about that. We mainly discussed the section 43 of the act and I gave them a patience hearing and assured them that I will discuss with the government about their concern,”
Anisul Huq added.

The law minister said he would further scrutinize the section, about which a section of the stakeholders are raising their objection. “We would cooperate with all to ensure the fact that none can be able to misuse the Digital Security Act,” he added.
