Al-Amin agro, an agricultural institution of Naogaon district, becomes financially profitable by harvesting all season watermelon of Black Queen species.
It has great demand at the market for its pure taste and attractive color. However, people can get this watermelon all over the year. Moreover, this agricultural boon gives many for employment opportunity.
According to agricultural department of Naogaon, harvesting of this type of watermelon spread in this area due to being dry land and water insufficiency.
This is the first in the district for cultivating this new kind of watermelon. As a result, Al-Amin agro becomes gainer. However, the agro company brought saplings from India and took lease two bighas land of Naogaon Barendro’s area.
This watermelon weight is 2.5 kg to 4kg. The outside color of this watermelon is dark black but inside solor is red as well as very sweet to taste. For the first time, nearly 150-maund watermelon have been produced. Per kg of watermelon is being sold at Tk 25-30.
Azizur Rahman, manager of Al-Amin agro said “It costs Tk 1,40,000 including saplings costs, maintenance, making matcha and employee's salary. You can get nearly Tk 3 lakhs by harvesting watermelon within 2 months.”
Ahsan Shahid Sharker, Deputy Director, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of Naogaon said we will cooperate our very best to produce this kind of Watermelon.
