Rangpur district and city units of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies on Thursday celebrated the 73rd founding anniversary of the party through daylong programs in the city.
Leaders of the district and city units of AL hoisted the national and party flags at their respective offices and placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, brought out rallies and placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu in the city. Later, the district and city units of AL organised two separate discussions at respective party offices in the Betpotti area of the city. President of district AL presided over the discussion held at its office where leaders of the district units of the party and its associate bodies including Mohila Awami League, Swechchasebak League, Sramik League, Jubo League and Chhatra League were present. Vice-presidents of district AL Rosy Rahman and Utpal Sarker, its Joint General Secretaries Mazed Ali Babul and Motahar Hossain Mondal Mowla, Organizing Secretaries Wazedul Islam and Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon, Office Secretary Amin Sarker, Treasurer Mostoba Hossain Ripan, President of district Mohila Awami League Mortuza Mansur its general Secretary Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, among others, addressed.
President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi presided over another discussion arranged at its office. Moderated by General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal, its Organizing Secretaries Foyzul Hasan Rubel and Engineer Shahadat Hossain, Office Secretary Shafikul Islam Rahel, Labor Affairs Secretary Hasanuzzaman Nannu, President of Haragachh Thana unit of AL Rezaul Islam Reza and its General Secretary Agriculturist Sahedul Islam, among others, addressed.
Tushar Kanti Mandal narrated the glorious history of AL that brought independence for the nation under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build a developed "Sonar Bangla" free from hunger, exploitation, injustice and deprivation.
Shafiur Rahman Shafi discussed the splendid record of struggles of AL since its inception and said that the country achieved Independence by winning the War of Liberation in 1971 against the Pakistani occupation forces under the leadership of Bangabandhu.
Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon said Bangabandhu and AL are inseparable as everlasting sources of all inspirations and the nation continues building a developed "Sonar Bangla" under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina braving the Covid-19 pandemic.
