Agro supply chain to be ensured thru digital tech: Minister

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said that the ministry will ensure the supply chain and food safety of agricultural products and markets through digital technology.

Demand, supply, supply and quality of various commodities including fertilizers will be centrally looked after.

Pointing out that there is no shortage of products in the market, he also said that in every market of the country, different products can be seen arranged.

That means there is no problem in product production; There is a problem with supply. For that, we have entered into an agreement with the ICT Department to use digital technology. Through this, we will say goodbye to corruption.

'If Bangabandhu had lived, this country would develop like Malaysia and S-Korea. However, due to the strong leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter, Bangladesh is becoming a model for the world due to the acquisition of Digital Bangladesh capabilities. During Covid-19 we have benefited from our digital transformation. This proves that Bangladesh can never be kept under control' said the minister at the event.

The Minister of Industry said these things in the chief guest's speech at the MoU signing ceremony between the Ministry of Industry and the Department of Information and Communication Technology. The MoU was signed in the conference room of the Ministry of Industry. State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumdar, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the event under the chairmanship of Industry Secretary Zakia Sultana.

Besides, Ministry of Industry, Information and Communication Technology Department and various government departments/organization officials were present.

The MoU was signed by Industry Secretary Zakia Sultana on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Samsul Arefin, Secretary on behalf of the Information and Communication Technology Department.

Special guest Minister of State for Industry Kamal Ahmed Majumdar MP joined virtually and said that today's MoU between the Ministry of Industry and the Department of Information and Communication Technology will accelerate the country's economic growth and increase national productivity. Implementation of Smart Fertilizer Management System in collaboration with ICT department will facilitate all types of fertilizer transportation, storage and distribution activities.

Besides, it will be possible to take the activities of vehicle tracking, ERP system as well as the system of e-commerce in the marketing of products for the purpose of bringing smart management from the production of all types of products to the marketing of sugar, salt and industries under the Ministry of Industry.

In the speech of the special guest, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP said that the Ministry of Industry will lead the fourth industrial revolution. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said that both the ministries will work together to develop more than 7 million small and medium industrial entrepreneurs as digital entrepreneurs.

He also said that technology has been used to pull the country champion in corruption for 5 times. Due to EGP and e-documents, Bangladesh has been freed from the bad name of corruption in the world. Now Bangladesh has the opportunity to move to the eighth position in the ICT sector in the world. That's why we want to build smart industry. In this regard, the ICT department will play a supporting role. Through this, the Ministry of Industry will lead the fourth industrial revolution.

It is to be noted that smart fertilizer management system, unique industry number, protection of intellectual property, standardization and accreditation of digital products and services, development of human resources suitable for the fourth industrial revolution, modernization of e-library, research innovation and creation of entrepreneurs are aimed to work together on the basis of partnership.

The memorandum of understanding was signed. As a result, the scope of work of the two ministries is very wide and comprehensive. Therefore, we will be able to jointly implement several initiatives in addition to exchanging cooperation on a wide scale, which will be helpful in improving the quality of life of the citizens of Bangladesh at all levels.
