Pinky Akhter (14), a victim of forced child marriage, has committed suicide. The incident took place in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari district.
The incident took place at her grandfather's house in Basunia Para of Chandkhana Union in Kishoreganj Upazila of Nilphamari on Thursday noon.
Adolescent Pinky was the daughter of Raju Miah, a farmer from Officepara village and an eighth-grade student of Chandkhana Bidirectional High School.
Kishoreganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Awal confirmed the matter and said the body has been sent to the district morgue for autopsy following a case of unnatural death in connection with Pinki's suicide.
Laju Miah, 25, son of Saidul Islam of Latif Chapra village in ChapraSaranjami Union of NilphamariSadar got married to Pinki two days ago. Laju Mia is a factory worker in Uttara UPZ.
The family members got Pinki married without her consent.
