Accused killer of mother, son detained

Within a week of the incident of killing mother and son, the accused was held by Police Bureau Investigation (PBI) from Gopindi village of Araihazar upazila on Sunday night arrested lone accused is Sadekur Rahman Sadik, 24, son of Mobarak Hossain of Gopindi village. He was a readymade garments worker and brother-in-law of Razia Sultana Kakoli.

Additional inspector general of police and head of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Bonoj Kumar Mozumder on Monday briefed the media at PBI’s head office in Dhaka.

According to the media brief, it was learned Sadekur Rahman Sadik on July 3 entered his sister-in-law’s house and made a plan to kill her to loot gold ornaments and cash taka to meet up his debt that was committed due to his gambling.

But he killed sister-in-law Razia Sultana Kakoli, 42 and eight years old nephew, Talha.

The accused was produced before the judicial magistrate court in Narayanganj and he gave a confessional statement under the criminal code of procedure-164.

On July 3, Razia Sultana Kakoli and her son Talha were killed, slaughtering by sharp weapons at their residence. Araihazar thana police had recovered the bodies but the incident was clueless.

On July 5, killed Razia’s mother Khandoker Taslima Begum had filed a murder case with Araihazar police against unknown accused. After that PBI began an investigation and captured the accused on July 10 night.

The investigation officer of the case sub-inspector Shakil Hossain said that the accused had mere intention to loot money and gold that was found in both confessional statements and investigation.
