A total of 960 small and marginal farmers in five upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of mung bean in the Rabi season.
To increase the interest of farmers in mung bean cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the financial year 2023-24 in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said.
He said that each farmer will get five kgs of mung bean seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for mung bean cultivation on one bigha of land.
The beneficiaries comprise 240 farmers in Sadar upazila, 200 in Muksudpur upazila, 180 in Kashiani upazila, 170 farmers in Kotalipara upazila and 170 in Tungipara upazila.
The distribution of the seeds and fertilizers will start very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, he said.
