7400 head of cattle vaccinated in Gaibandha

A total of 7400 cattle heads were vaccinated by the Livestock department in Gaibandha during the flood in July to save the domestic animal from various diseases, reports BSS. 

District livestock officer Dr Abdus Samad said as many as 7400 cattle were vaccinated and 1950 cattle heads were given need base treatment during the flood.

Livestock officials said the district experienced flood three times in the month of July and the flood affected people faced many problems with their domestic animals and poultry birds during the flood.

Taking the matter into consideration, the Livestock department vaccinated the cattle to save them from different diseases.

Samad said 10900 poultry birds were also given injection and 1950 poultry birds were given treatment during the flood at the initiative of the department.

Not only that, 5500 awareness building leaflets were also distributed to the flood affected people in a bid to protect their cattle and poultry birds from the diseases, he added.

Apart from it, the department also disbursed high quality fodder and deworming tablets to 670 flood affected people for their cattle during the natural calamity, he further said.

A total of 11 medical teams formed by the department worked at the flood prone areas of the district round the clock, he continued.
