Dhaka Customs House officials have seized seven kilogrammes of the gold bar from a passenger of Emirates Air Lines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8-20 am on Wednesday. The estimated price of the recovered gold bars is Taka five crore 17 lakh 66 thousand (51.76 million).
It is learnt, acting on a tip-off, customs officials searched a passenger of EK-582 flight from Dubai and found 60 gold bars weighing 6.900 kilogrammes concealed in his body.
Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House Mohammad Maruf informed preparation was underway to file a case against the carrier of the gold bar under the Customs rule.
