500 flood victims get relief in Gaibandha

Some 500 flood affected people of Sadar upazila in the district got relief materials from a local non-government organization SKS Foundation on Wednesday, reports BSS.

A relief distribution function was held at Pulbandi Bazaar area under Boali union of the upazila this morning.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest and UNO Uttam Kumar Roy was present at the event as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Abdul Matin said over 6 lakh people of Sundarganj, Gaibandha Sadar, Fulchhari and Shaghat upazila had been affected seriously due to on-going flood creating their untold sufferings.

DC Abdul Matin formally inaugurated the relief distribution activity to the 300 flood victims of the union as the chief guest.

Each of them received 15-kg of rice, 2-kg of pulse, 1 kg of salt and 1 litre of soybean oil from the organization.

Director of SKS Foundation Khokon Kumar Kundu, assistant director (AD) Mahfuzar Rahman, AD Khandakar Zahid Sarwar and assistant coordinator Ashraf Alam including journalists of print and electronic media were present on the occasion.

UNO Uttam Kumar Roy formally distributed relief materials to 200 food hit families there as the chief guest, said an official of the SKS Foundation.
