Upazila administration conducted a mobile court at Dhamrai of Dhaka district and destroyed five dredger machines on charge of illegal lifting of sand from the Bangshi River on Monday.
Antara Haldar, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (land) of Dhamrai Upazila, conducted the mobile court.
Antara Haldar told the Bangladesh Post, ‘Some local influential illegally lifted sand from Bangshai River by installing dredger machine, based on such information, we conducted a mobile court at Tetail and Boro Jethail area of Dhamrai on Monday afternoon and destroyed 5 illegal deadger machines with huge quantity of plastic pipes from the river.’
‘Preparations for further legal action are underway. Campaign against illegal sand lifters from the river will continue in future’, she added.
