On the allegation of engaging in immoral activities, a woman and a male Rural Medical Practioner were allegedly tortured at the Adorsho village of Chandni union under Hatiya uapzila of Noakhali district recently.
It is further alleged, the rural practitioner was stripped and both of them were tied to a tree during torture. A video of the incident also got viral in the social media. However, there were contradictory remarks from the local people in this connection.
Being informed, the Suprintendent of Police of Noakhali along with Hatiya thana police visited the spot on Sunday evening and police arrested five accused among 11 from the village the same night.
Earlier, the victim woman filed a complaint with the court and the court directed the Additional Police Super to investigate into the incident and to submit the investigation report within seven working-day.
According to police and local sources, on January-1, some 5 to 6 youngmen confiscated a local rural medical practitioner and a woman of Adarsha village of Hatiya on the allegation of their immoral activities. At a stage, the RMP attempted to flee by breaking ventilator of the wall of the house but he was chased and caught again. Then, both of them were tied with a betel-nut tree and were beaten mercilessly. Video of torturing them was uploaded in social media on Saturday night which got viral soon.
The tortured woman, on the other hand, filed a petition-case with the Women and Child Repression Repeal Tribunal-2 where she accused some local youngmen including Zia alias Zihad, Faruk, Enayet , Bhuttu Majhi, and Faruque gang members attempted to rape her but failing to do that they tortured her by tearing her saree and the blouse. On Sunday evening, Alamgir Hossain, Superintendent of Police of the district and forces from Hatiya Police station visited the spot. Superintendent of police informed, the video which has been uploaded in social media belongs to a male but the piercing voice of a tortured woman was heard in the video.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Alamgir Hossain at a press briefing at his office on Monday noon informed, some unruly youngmen of the area merclessly beat the house wife and the rural doctor on the allegation of their involvement in immoral activities on January-1. Later, they also tortured them by tying both with a tree. At a stage, they also made a video of torturing the male member and uploaded that to the social media.
Being informed, District Superintendent of Police visited the spot on Sunday. Later, the tortured Rural practitioner filed a case with Hatiya Police station accuing 11 persons. Police arrested five of the accused persons on Sunday night and were trying to arrest others as soon as possible.
