4 auto-rickshaw passengers killed in Pakundia

At least four passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed in a collision between a truck and the auto-rickshaw on Motkhola-Battola road at Manderkandi High School area at Pakunid upazila of Kishoreganj on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as CNG driver Sharif, 35, son of Siraj Mia of Nagarhazradi village, businessman Khokan, 28, son of Hadiul Islam of Chamraide village, Ahid Miah, 40, son of Siraj Miah of Maratola village under Pakundia upazila in Kishorenj district, and Razia Khatun, 75, wife of late Ishaq Mia of Aralia village under Kapasia upazila in Gazipur.

The truck smashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, killing the four passengers of the auto-rickshaw.

According to police and the locals, CNG driver Sharif, shoe businessman Khokon died on the spot, while Razia Khatun was declared dead at Katiadi Upazila Health Complex and Md. Ahid Miah died on the way to Dhaka.

Ahutia Investigation Center In-charge Inspector Md. Shafiqul Islam said on information, police rushed to the spot and the killer truck (Dhaka Metro-Ta-18-8555) was seized.

The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action will be taken in this connection, said Md. Shafiqul Islam.
