3 Shibir activists detained, 19 bikes seized in Rajshahi

Police detained three activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir and seized 19 motorbikes from a mango orchard of Bhallukpur village under Paba upazila in Rajshahi of Friday night.

Police said that the Shibir activists were holding a secret meeting aiming at sabotage during ensuing Paba Upazila Parishad elections.

The arrestees were identified as Kamrul Hasan of Shympur area under Rajshahi metropolitan area, Dilder Hossain of Mirjpore area and Anu Taher of Sucharan area under Kantkhali police station.

Shahadat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Motihar police station said that acting on a tip-off that Jamaat-Shibir activists were holding the secret meeting aiming at creating sabotage during Paba upazila Parishad elections scheduled to be held on June-18, police conducted a drive at the spot on Friday night. Jamat-Shibir activists hurled stones at the police and most of them managed to escape.

However, additional police rushed to the spot and arrested three of Shibir activists from the spot. Police also seized 18 motorbikes from the spot which the Jamaat-shibir activists left behind during retreat. A case was filed in this connection.
