A driver of the Roads and Highways (R&H) and two of his associates were arrested by the elite force rapid action battalion (RAB) with 150 bottles of contra banned Indian drug Phensedyl syrup on Saturday morning in Jhenaidah. The law enforcers also seized their official Pajero jeep used by an R and H officials carrying the contra banned. said RAB-6 company Commander Major Nayeem Ahmed.
The arrested were identified as driver of the jeep Ranjan Hossain Dewan, 30, son of Shahjada Feroj of Tejkunipara of Tejgaon in Dhaka, Jubayer Hossain Jewel, 32, son of Delwar Hossain of Amtali upazila in Barguna nd Nazar Hossain, 25, son of late Mahtab Uddin of Senerhuda village of Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga.
Major Nayeem Ahmed said acting on a tip off, a contingent of the RAB personnel challehneged a Dhaka bound Pajero jeep at Madhupur on Jhenaidah- Magura highway and stopped the vehicle. The law enforcers had seized the contra banned kept in the vehicle with strict security. Later they had arrested the driver Ranjan Hossain Dewan and two others from the spots.
The RAB was preparing to file a case with Jhenaidah sadar police station in this connection, the company Commander said.
