A total of 3,450 small and marginal farmers in Sadar Upazila of the district got seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agro incentive for the cultivation of Aush paddy and Jute cultivation in the current Kharif-1 season.
To increase the interest of farmers in Aush paddy and Jute cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the current financial year 2022-23 in the district, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said.
Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) of the district Azgar Ali, distributed the incentive among the famers of the upazila as the chief guest on Thursday morning.
The distribution function was held on the Sadar Upazila Parishad premises on Thursday morning.
District Training Officer Bijay Krishna Halder, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Zahidul Karim, Vice Chairman of the upazila Rashidur Rahman Russell and Women Vice Chairman Aarti Dutta, among others, were present.
Under the programme, each farmer were given five kilograms of Aush paddy seed, 10-kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers and 10-kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizers each free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land among the 1,350 farmers and 2100 farmers were given one kg of Jute seeds each.
