Police arrested at least 23 Jamaat-Shibir men from Haitapur-Shahpur Hafijia Madrasa at Monirampur upazila in Jashore on Friday night. Police also recovered four bombs, a banner and some books of the organisation.
The arrestees are Abdullah, Publicity Secretary of Jashore east district unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Monirul Islam, lecturer of Chuknagar College, Shamim Hossain, teacher of Jashore Moshiur Rahman Law College, Habib Hasan of Sagardhari area of Keshabpur upazila, Billal Hossain and Rasel Ahmed of Bhalukghar, Sirajul Islam of Manirampur upazila.
Rasel Kabir, Enamul Haque of Hanua village, Mujahid Abu Mota of Shyamkur village, Sajim Hossain of Shyamkur village, Yeasin Arafat and Abdur Rahim of Nangahhat village, Nazmus Shakib of Shahpur village, Ghulam Azam of Khedapara village, Khalidur Rahman of Galla village, Saiful Islam of Parchajura village, Mahfuz Hossain of Rohita village, Mehdi Hasan of Hazrakati village, Bappi Hossain and Monirul Islam of Ratreshwarpur village, Israfil Hossain and Masum Billah of Madanpur village.
The Jamaat-Shibir men were holding a secret meeting at the madrasa. OC (Investigation) of Manirampur Police Station SM Enamul Haque said police produced them in a court on Saturday.
