2 Yaba dealers killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

Two ‘Yaba dealers’ were killed in a reported gunfight with police in hilly area adjoining to Parjatan Bazar under Teknaf upazila of the district on early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Ahmed Hossain, 45, hailed from Ghona area in Hatiya and Abdur Rahman, 46,  hailed from Block-D in Noyapara Rohingya Camp area.

Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station, Pradip Kumar Das said when a team of police reached the area along with the two Yaba traders to recover Yaba and arms, their troops opened fire on the cops early Saturday.

Police fired back in self-defence, triggering a gunfight.  They found bullet-hit Ahmed and Abdur after the gunfight, he added.

They were taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead, the OC said.

The bodies were kept in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy. Besides, legal steps were being taken in this connection, Pradip Kumar Das told to media.
