At least two terrorists were captured with arms and ammunition in separate drives by the joint forces of security members and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from Kutukchhari Bazar in sadar upzila and Unshmile area in Naniachar upazila of the district on Monday and Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Shankadish Kumar Barua, 46, son of late Kali Kumar Barua of village Kutukchhari Bazar in Rangamati sadar upazila and Diganta Chakma, 31, a member of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF).
Acting on a tip off, the members of the joint forces of security from Rangamati region and RAB-7 from Chattogram raided at Kutukchhari Bazar area and arrested Shankadish Barua.
RAB members also recovered a revolver with three bullets from his possession, said Maj Shamim and Maj Mushfiqur Rahman of RAB-7 during a press conference in Rangamati region on Tuesday.
In another raid, security personnel arrested a member of UPDF from Unishmile area in Naniachar upazila on Monday.
Receiving secret information, military members conducted a drive at Unishmile area and arrested Diganta Chakma, 31. Diganta was involved in extortion in different area in Naniachar.
Later, Diganta was handed over to Naniachar police while Shankadish was handed over to Kotowali police.
