Sanwar Hossain and Afroza Jaman Fahima, 1st Year BSS (Hons) students of the Department of Economics of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded DU Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Scholarship. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the recipients as the chief guest at a function held today July 5, 2022 at VC’s Lounge of the university. It may be mentioned that the students of DU Economics Department of Batch 1976 have donated money to set up Dhaka University Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Scholarship in memories of their deceased classmates.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Muhammad Samad, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, donor representatives Suraiya Begum ndc, Romendra Chandra Basak, Golam Hafiz Ahmded and Amir Abdul Wahab were present on this occasion.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to become a worthy citizen after equipping themselves with humanitarian and moral values. We have taken measures to bring needy students under the social safety network through establishment of various trust funds, he mentioned.
He thanked the donors for setting up the Dhaka University Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Fund. It will play a supporting role for making inclusive society as well as achieving Sustainable Development Goals, the VC hoped.
