2 held with 30-kg hemp in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj Model Police detained two youths with 30 kg of hemp from Katabaria area of Kishoregang-Mymensingh highway under Kishoreganj Sadar upazila on Friday night, said police sources.

At that time police seized a private car bearing number Dhaka Metro-C 21-0601.

The detainee was identified as Md Rubel, 28, son of Md Abed Ali Molla, hailed from Thulthulia village under Demra thana of Dhaka and Mohram Ali, 27, son of late Lokamn Khan from Mirabazar area of Sylhet Sadar upazila. Md Rubel was the driver of the car.

Police said during primary interrogations, the detainees admitted to carrying the hemp from Bhairab to Mymensingh.

Being tipped off, Masud Anwar, Additional Police Super of Kishoreganj Sadar Circle and Md Abu Bakar Siddique, Officer-in-Charge of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station conducted a drive at Katabaria area on Kishoreganj-Mymensing highway around 12:00am Friday.

When the car reached the spot, police stopped it and recovered 30 kg of hemp in eight packets after searching the car, confirmed OC Abu Bakar.

He said that the estimated cost of the recovered hemp is Tk 3,50,000. A case was filed with Kishoreganj Sadar police station under narcotics control act in this regard.
