2,200 farmers get agriculture incentives in Lohagora

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) on Thursday distributed seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentives for Aman farming among 2,200 small and marginal farmers in Lohagora upazila of Narail district.

These were distributed among the farmers under the agricultural incentive and rehabilitation programme in the current season with a view to increase Aman paddy production.  

The beneficiary farmers were given 5 kilograms (KGs) of high yielding seed, 10 kgs of muriatic of potash (MOP) and 10 kgs of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers for Aman paddy cultivation on one bigha land.

Deputy Director of DAE, Narail, Dipok Kumar Roy handed over the agri-inputs among the small and marginal farmers as the chief guest at a function at Lohagora Upazila Parishad auditorium with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Ajgor Ali in the chair.

District Training Officer of DAE Abdulla Al Mamun, Mayor of Lohagora Municipality and General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Lohagora upazila unit Syed Mashiur Rahman were present as special guests. Lohagora Upazila Agriculture Officer Farjana Akter delevered welcome speech on the occasion.

Deputy Director of DAE Dipok Kumar said, the present government is a farmer-friendly one as it has taken various steps for the development of agriculture sector including Aman paddy. Agricultural incentives will help boost Aman Paddy production, he added.
