1650 tonnes of VGF rice allocated for Kishoreganj

A total of 1650.471 metric tonne rice has been allocated under the special Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme to assist the poor of the district in celebrating the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.

The government through the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated the rice for distribution among 110031 poor and distressed families in all the 13 upaizlas and 8 pourashavas in the district. 

Of the total rice, 1257.660 metric tonne will be distributed among 83840 VGF card holder families in 13 upazilas of the district and rest 392.805 metric tonne rice will be distributed among the 26187 VGP card holder families in the 8 pourashavas of the district before Eid-ul-Fitr, District Relief and Rehabilitation official said. 

As per direction and supervision of the district administration the concerned upazila administrations with assistance of local public representatives and union level committees have been preparing to distribute the rice among the listed VGF card holder families.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) Kishoreganj Md. Mukarrom Hossain said, distribution of the VGF rice will be completed by June 3 next so that the beneficiary poor and distressed families could celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.

"Each of the selected beneficiary family will get 15 kg VGF rice packed in a sack this time, on the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity in all 108 unions under thirteen upazilas and eight pourashavas in the district," he said.

Under the programme, 138.990 metric tonne of rice will be distributed among 9266 VGF card holder families in Itna upazila, 1401.925 metric tonne among 6795 families in Mitamoin, 113.370 metric tonne among 7558 families in Austagram, 76.935 tonne among 5129 families in Tarail, 56.100 metric tonne among 3740 families in Nikli, 106.800 metric tonne among 7120 families in Karimganj, 67.275 tonne among 4485 families in Hossainpur, 115.080 metric tonne among 7672 families in Katiadi, 108.735 metric tonne among 7249 families in Bhairab, 88.320 metric tonne among 5888 families in Bajitpur, 88.755 metric tonne among 5917 families in Pakundia, 136.065 tonne among 9071 families in Kishoreganj Sadar and 59.310 tonne among 3954 VGF card holder families in Kuliarchar upazilas.

In addition to this, 69.315 metric tonne special VGF rice will be distributed among 4621 distressed families each in Kishoreganj and Bhairab pourashavas. 

56.215 metrict tonne of rice will be distributed among 3081 families each in Bajitpur, Karimganj, Kuliarchar, Hossainpur and Katiadi pourashavas and 23.100 tonne of rice will be distributed among 1540 families in     Pakundia pourashavas in the district.
