Centring Mujib Barsho and the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, ruling Bangladesh Awami League has chalked out elaborate programme and its 14-party alliance. As part of the programmes, they will hold protest rallies across the country all over the month of March with a view to launch social movement against repression on women and children.

Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim, also the coordinator and spokesperson of the Awami League-led 14 party alliance, made the announcement on Thursday at a press briefing held at Awami League central office at the capital’s Bangabandhu Avenue.

Mohammad Nasim said, in the first phase of the programmes, they will hold rallies on March 1 at the Central Shahid Minar in capital, on March at Bogura and on March 10 in Naogaon protesting repression of women and children. Besides, in the evening on March 17, the birth day and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu, they will lit candles in front of the National Parliament. The next day, on March 18, they will place floral wreaths at the statue and mural of Bangabandhu located at Dhanmondi. The same programmes will also be held at every district and upazila across the country.

The 14-party alliance coordinator, Mohammad Nasim said, “Holding only the meetings or rallies is not enough. Women and children are being repressed, harassed and tortured in many ways across the country. Therefore, rallies against the repression on women and children will be held across the country to create social awareness and social movement.”

“As the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had been struggling all over his life for the truth and justice, centring his birth centenary and Mujib Barsho will also have to do the same things”, said Mohammad Nasim.

Presided over by Mohammad Nasim, the meeting was attended, among others, by Awami League presidium member Mojaffar Hossain Paltu, Workers Party of Bangladesh president Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Somajtantrik Dal president Hasanul Huq Inu, Awami League leader Tofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Gonotantrik Party general secretary Dr Shahadat Hossain, Gono Azadi League leader SK Shikder and Communict Kendra leader Dr wajedul Islam Khan.
