A chital fish weighing 10-kg has been caught from the estuary of Padma and Jamuna rivers at Daulatdia in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari in the early morning on Monday. The fish was sold for Tk 13000.
The chital fish was caught in the net of Alamin Haldar from Padma river in Daulatdia Beparipara area. People gathered at 5 no. Daulatdia ferry terminal to see the fish at a glance.
Later, when the fish was brought to BabuSardar's yard on the side of Daulatdia bypass road for sale, Chandu Mollah, a local fish trader of the ferry terminal bought the fish at Tk 1,300 per kg.
Fish trader Chandu said, I have bought the fish at a price of Tk 1,300 per kg for a total of Tk 13,000. Now the big traders are being contacted on mobile phone to sell the fish at
Tk 1,350 per kg.
In this regard, District Fisheries Officer Joydev Pal said, fishermen are frequently catching large fishes of different species in the estuaries of Padma and Jamuna.
