A total of 10 dwelling houses were gutted by the fire that broke out in a residential area at Moghadia village under Mirsari upazilaof the district on Sunday night, reports BSS.
Jashim Uddin, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense in Chattogram, said that the fire originated from an electric short-circuit at a dwelling house in the area at around 8.45 pm and quickly engulfed the adjoining houses.
Four fire fighting units from Mirsari and Sitakunda rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control at around 2 am.
Victim engineer HamidulHoque and local fire service officials claimed that the fire damaged properties worth about Taka 50 lakh, Jashim Uddin added.
